ABOUT YODENET
Youth Development
Network in Tanzania (YODENET) is a National Non-Governmental organization
working with issues on Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS, Entrepreneurship/
income generating activities, Youth rights empowerment and Environmental
Management.
YODENET was first initiated in 2003 by an individual youth (Alexius
Rwezaula) who was still a high school student by then. His aim was to create
emancipation among youth for positive development in the society. He realized
that youth in the society have creative potentials but have not been capacity
built and as a result are being involved in nonsensical behavior like crime,
drug and sex abuse and political violence due to unemployment.
The organization obtained its legal registration on 18th
November, 2010 under the Societies Act CAP.337 {R.E. 2002}.
VISION
To unite youth through
networking, in bringing worldwide development changes and building a better
life for the next generation.
MISSION
To enhance the society
on health and socio-economic well-being and actively involve the youth to
participate in decision making bodies to enable them influence policies that
affect their lives by empowering them on their rights, hence reduce extreme
poverty.
OBJECTIVES
- Networking with other like-minded organizations locally, regionally and internationally in achieving the organizations objectives
- To capacity build the youth on how to protect and manage their social and physical environment.
- To engage in policy advocacy in order to ensure full participation of the youth in national, political, social and economic spheres including protecting youth rights and representation in national institutions that affect the youth directly or indirectly.
- Mobilizing resources for the purpose of promoting youth related projects.
- To empower youth in the fight against HIV/AIDS, preventive measures, sex and reproductive health.
- To enhance the socio economic status of the youth through promotion of income generating activities
- To create awareness to the society on gender equity and sensitivity
- To create awareness on good use of cyber technology
- Organizing events to promote talents among the youth and to give them exposure and sensitize the community on social, environmental and political issues affecting them
- Ensuring that the organization in collaboration with the youth and other organizations gathers and provides information on youth development issues.
